Preferred Reels and Lines

Of course everyone has their preference of rods, reels, lines, leaders, and flies. But we have tested, re-tested, and will continue testing the best equipment to pair with our custom rods. Something as minor as an uplocking vs. downlocking reel seat can change the feel of a rod. Below are our recommendations of what works best with some of the common blanks we build.

Reels

Unlike modern 8-9′ carbon fiber rods, lighter reels sometimes don’t balance correctly on glass rods. The stylish looks, value, construction, and reliability of  Ross Reels pair great with our glass rods.

Ross Reels: Colorado LT, Animas, and Evolution LTX

Both of these reels work great and look great. For a little added weight, we spooled the reels up with 30 lbs. backing before adding our fly lines.
